Rudolph T. Randa

District I (1981-1982)

Rudolph T. Randa, who served in District I for one year by appointment, has been a federal judge in the Eastern District of Wisconsin since August 1992.  He was nominated by Senator Robert Kasten and appointed by President George Bush to succeed Judge Robert Warren, who moved to senior status.  

According to the Milwaukee Journal at the time of the federal appointment, Randa was born in 1940, grew up in Milwaukee, graduated from Milwaukee's Riverside University High School with Terence Evans (who also became a federal judge in Milwaukee), earned a bachelor's degree from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and attended University of Wisconsin Law School with Governor Tommy G. Thompson, class of 1966.  

A year in private practice followed law school graduation, then service in the U.S. Army and several years in the city attorney's office.  Seventeen years in Milwaukee municipal and circuit courts and District I of the Court of Appeals preceded his move to the federal bench.  

Away from the court, Randa has served on the boards of UW-Milwaukee Alumni Association, Child Abuse Prevention Fund, Ronald McDonald House, Wisconsin Impact, and Thomas More Society.  Memberships include American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Milwaukee County Historical Society.
