Electronic Filing Committee report
In the fall of 2000, the Wisconsin Director of State Courts appointed a committee to examine the issues related to electronic case and document filing in the Wisconsin Court System. The report created by the Wisconsin Court System Electronic Filing Committee was only a preliminary step in the process of implementing electronic case filing in Wisconsin. The committee's report is comprehensive and clearly identifies a number of important issues that the Wisconsin Court System will need to address before embarking on this endeavor.
This forward to the e-filing report is provided to clarify that while the Wisconsin Court System is committed to electronic filing at some point in the future, it is not yet ready to set a date for implementing any component of e-filing. At such time when the e-filing concept becomes a reality, the recommendations of the e-filing committee along with the Wisconsin Court System's technological environment will be taken into consideration. When created, the e-filing system will be a comprehensive and dynamic process to facilitate the work of the courts and court system users.
