Supreme Court appoints Appleton man to State Bar Board of Governors

Madison, Wisconsin - December 29, 2000

The Wisconsin Supreme Court has appointed Oscar C. Boldt, chairman of The Boldt Group, Inc. to the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Wisconsin. His appointment is effective today. The Court acted on a nomination from the Appointment Selection Committee, which it created last spring to promote quality and diversity in candidates for service on boards and committees.

The Board of Governors manages and directs the affairs of the State Bar, which is an association that provides continuing legal education and a variety of products and services for Wisconsin lawyers. Membership in the State Bar is mandatory for every lawyer who practices in the state of Wisconsin.

Boldt is a 1948 graduate of the University of Wisconsin College of Engineering. Upon graduating, he went to work in the family business, an Appleton construction company founded by carpenter Martin Boldt in 1889. Today, holdings of The Boldt Group, Inc. include Oscar J. Boldt Construction and Paper Valley Corporation.

Boldt is very active in civic and business organizations around the state. He currently sits on the board of directors for M & I Bank and Midwest Express. He is a past member of the boards of Pierce Manufacturing, Inc., Integrated Paper Services, Appleton Medical Center, Appleton Chamber of Commerce, the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, and many more organizations.

Boldt's initial appointment lasts until June 30, 2001. He replaces Marcia Mentkowski, Ph.D., of Alverno College, who was an interim appointee.
