Supreme Court appoints six to lawyer investigative committees
Madison, Wisconsin - Dec. 16, 2003
Madison, Wis. - The Wisconsin Supreme Court has appointed six people to serve on district committees that assist in the investigation of complaints against lawyers in Milwaukee and the Fox Valley.
The lawyer regulation system, administered by the Supreme Court through the Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR), includes 16 district investigative committees - comprised of lawyers and non-lawyers - located throughout the state. These committees assist the OLR in investigations of possible lawyer misconduct. The appointees, who will serve initial three-year terms, are:
District 2 (Milwaukee):
Dan Conley, a partner with the law firm of Quarles & Brady in Milwaukee.
Jeffrey W. Hanewal, an architect, engineer, and builder who currently works with Engberg Anderson Design Partnership in Milwaukee.
Peter J. Marik, who holds a master's degree in community mental health and works in the Division of Adult Institutions at the Wisconsin Department of Corrections in Milwaukee.
District 3 (Fox Valley):
Keith T. Miller, provost and vice chancellor of UW-Oshkosh. Miller oversees curriculum, faculty, undergraduate and graduate programs, and continuing education at the college.
Mark T. Slate, a Markesan estate-planning lawyer.
Ellen C. Sorensen, executive director of the Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Supreme Court is committed to diversity in the appointment of individuals to court-related boards and committees. The Court seeks to include a cross-section of lawyers and members of the general public throughout the state.
