For the first time in its history, the Wisconsin Supreme Court will sit in Elkhorn next week, hearing three cases on Thursday, March 2, at the Walworth County Judicial Center, 1800 County Road NN, Elkhorn. The community’s overwhelming response to the court’s visit has filled the courtroom to capacity for the cases commencing at 9:30 and 11 a.m., although a simulcast of these proceedings will be shown in an adjacent courtroom for anyone wishing to drop in. Reservations remain available for the 2 p.m. case.
The visit will begin with a press conference in Branch 4 of the Judicial Center at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1. Local judges, state legislators, and county officials will help to welcome the court; the chief justice will make remarks and the justices will take questions.
On Thursday, March 2, the court will hear three cases commencing at 9:30 and 11 a.m., and 2 p.m. Immediately prior to each case, a local attorney who has studied the briefs will make a presentation to the audience.
