Formal swearing-in ceremony held for Justice Rebecca G. Bradley

Madison, Wisconsin - January 26, 2016

Justice Rebecca G. Bradley will be formally sworn in as a justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court during a ceremony scheduled for 3 p.m. today in the Assembly Chamber on the second floor of the State Capitol's West Wing.

Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Diane S. Sykes, a former Wisconsin Supreme Court justice, will administer the oath of office at the ceremony.

A Milwaukee native, Bradley is the first Wisconsin Supreme Court justice to have served as an intermediate appellate court judge as well as a circuit court judge. She was appointed to the Milwaukee Circuit Court in 2012, and won election to the Branch 45 bench in 2013. She was appointed to the Court of Appeals bench on June 1, 2015. Prior to serving on the circuit court, she worked in private practice for 16 years.

Bradley graduated from Marquette University in 1993 with an honors B.S. in Business Administration and Business Economics, and received her juris doctor from the UW Law School in 1996. She is a member of the Wisconsin Juvenile Jury Instructions Committee; Wisconsin Juvenile Benchbook Committee; Board of Advisors, Milwaukee Lawyers Chapter, Federalist Society; Board of Governors, St. Thomas More Lawyers Society; and the Wisconsin State Advisory Committee, U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. She is a member of the Wisconsin Trial Judges Association and was a member of the Milwaukee Trial Judges Association. While in private practice, Bradley served as an American Arbitration Association Arbitrator and was Chairman of the State Bar Business Law Section.

Bradley was officially sworn into office by Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Patience Roggensack in the Supreme Court Hearing Room on October 12, 2015.
