On July 31, 2002, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals filed a petition seeking to amend Wis. Stat. § 809.18 to provide the court of appeals with discretion to dismiss an appeal when a voluntary dismissal is filed more than 15 days after the filing of a reply brief or statement a reply brief will not be filed or more than 15 days after the due date for the reply brief, whichever occurs later.  On January 22, 2003, the court held a public hearing on the petition.  The court has considered the petition and the matters presented at the public hearing.  

IT IS ORDERED that the petition to amend Wis. Stat.        § 809.18 is denied.
