|
On September 20, 2001, the court held a public hearing on the petition filed on June 29, 2001, by Attorney John N. Schweitzer requesting this court review and adopt the benchbook for referees.
The court has considered the petition and matters presented at the public hearing. The court expresses its appreciation to Attorney John N. Schweitzer and others for their efforts in compiling the benchbook. The court recognizes the value of benchbooks as a resource and educational tool. The court has not adopted benchbooks for judges or other court personnel and therefore will not adopt the referee benchbook. The court requests the office of judicial education to explore ways of reviewing, maintaining, and updating this benchbook.
IT IS ORDERED that the petition is denied.
Dated at Madison, Wisconsin, this 5th day of October, 2001.
