Gov. Jim Doyle proclaims Wisconsin Court Reporter Week

Madison, Wisconsin - September 20, 2007

Gov. Jim Doyle has proclaimed the third week in October as Wisconsin Court Reporters Week.

The proclamation was presented on Doyle's behalf by Supreme Court Justice Patience Drake Roggensack at the Wisconsin Court Reporters Association annual fall conference Sept. 28-30 in Madison.

The proclamation recognizes the many contributions of members of the association, which was founded in 1940. The group started with about 40 members at its first meeting in Milwaukee and now has about 400 members.

Court reporters are considered "guardians of the record," for every type of case, from small claims to homicides.
