Circuit Court eFiling update – New Delegation feature
The Wisconsin Circuit Court Electronic Filing (eFiling) system has been updated to include a feature allowing attorneys to grant their staff access to file cases and documents on their behalf. Attorneys can now delegate access to paralegals, legal assistants, and/or local government staff who have a Wisconsin Court System eCourts account.
When an attorney delegates access to their staff, the staff member is authorized to file cases and documents using their own eCourts account, eliminating the need for attorneys to share their username and password. This feature provides added security and is a method for the court system to ensure attorneys do not share their username and password.
Two-factor authentication coming to eFiling soon!
The Wisconsin Court System recommends attorneys review the steps to set up delegation for staff as, later this year, two-factor authentication (2FA) will be implemented for all eCourts accounts. Upon implementation of two-factor authentication, users will be required to enter their password and complete a second verification step to confirm their identity. The two-factor authentication method will send a code to the eCourts account user’s email or mobile phone. Details on the implementation of two-factor authentication, including the timeline for implementation and how to set up two-factor authentication, will be provided later this year.
