Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Robert Dehring has been tapped for a new leadership role in the Third Judicial Administrative District. He will now serve as deputy chief judge, succeeding Ozaukee County Circuit Court Judge Steve Cain. Chief Judge Paul Bugenhagen Jr. made the appointment.
The Third Judicial Administrative District includes Dodge, Jefferson, Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties.
Judge Dehring serves in Branch 3 of Jefferson County Circuit Court. His term as deputy chief judge will run concurrently with the term of the chief judge. Under Supreme Court Rule 70.26, deputy chief judges support the administration of Wisconsin’s judicial administrative districts and may act on behalf of the chief judge when needed.
“I’m grateful to Judge Bugenhagen for the opportunity to assist his efforts in District 3, and statewide, to address the pressing needs faced by the Wisconsin circuit courts,” said Judge Dehring.
Chief Judge Bugenhagen said he was thankful for the insight Judge Dehring continually provides and for his willingness to serve. He also thanked Judge Cain for his service as deputy chief judge, calling him “a wonderful colleague and an asset to Ozaukee County.”
Judge Dehring also serves as chair of the Wisconsin Court System’s Juvenile Benchbook Committee.
