On April 2, voters across Wisconsin will decide on several judicial candidates, including competitive races in ten circuit court branches. New judges will also be elected uncontested in three counties where the incumbent chose not to run for office. Winners of the Spring Election start their new six-year terms on the first of August.

The Tailored Dispositional Orders Project, a joint initiative led by the Children’s Court Improvement Program (CCIP) and the Department of Children and Families (DCF), is expanding after a successful pilot run in three counties during 2021-2022. The project is now being implemented in counties statewide looking to improve their CHIPS and/or Youth Justice conditions.
The Wisconsin State Law Library has recently released its 2023 Annual Report. The report highlights the library's outreach efforts to connect with people from different parts of the state and beyond. After almost eight years on the Racine County Branch 4 bench, Judge Mark Nielsen retired on January 1. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Nielsen returned to his native Racine after receiving his law degree from Harvard Law School.
