Former Brown County Circuit Court Judge Charles E. Kuehn, whose public service included work on the bench and later leadership of the Wisconsin State Parole Board, died August 17. He was 94.

A Sheboygan native, Judge Kuehn served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War era before returning to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned his law degree in 1957.

Judge Kuehn began his legal career in Green Bay with the Cornelison Law Firm. He later opened his own private law practice in downtown Green Bay before being elected to the Brown County Circuit Court.

After his time on the bench, Judge Kuehn continued in public service as chair of the Wisconsin State Parole Board. His obituary noted that his legal experience remained central to that work.

Outside of public service, Judge Kuehn was active in the Green Bay community, including work with the Green Bay Jaycees and other local organizations. He and his wife, Nancy, were married for more than 68 years before her death in 2022.
