The Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) will offer several educational programs this fall, including in-person Ethics School sessions and webinars on mentoring and trust account management.

OLR’s Ethics School sessions are scheduled for October 2 in Madison, October 22 in Janesville, October 29 in Kenosha/Racine, and November 5 in La Crosse. The sessions will cover OLR procedures, SCR Chapter 22, communication and other ethical obligations, and disciplinary rules and precedent. Each session runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is pending approval for 4.0 CLE/EPR credits.

Attorney JB Burtch, Jr. will present “Mentoring Elevates Lawyer Wellness” from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27. Drawing from his 2025 book, “Raising the Bar: The Mentor Guidebook for New Lawyers,” Burtch will discuss why mentoring matters, its benefits for mentors and mentees, and practical strategies for effective mentoring. The program is free to attorneys, paralegals, and students, approved for one LAU credit.

OLR will round out its fall programming with the free Annual Trust Account Update webinar from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, November 13. Topics will include trust account basics, payment fraud and scams, recordkeeping, closing trust accounts, and 2026 issues including flat fees, restitution of unearned fees, and billing implications for lawyers using artificial intelligence. Approval for 4.0 EPR/CLE credits is pending.

Registration information for OLR educational programs is available through the Wisconsin Office of Lawyer Regulation LinkedIn page.
