Faun Moses has been appointed District Court Administrator for District 5, bringing a background that spans appellate administration, trial-level leadership, and courtroom practice. She succeeds Amber Peterson, who now serves as Deputy Director of State Courts, and began in the role earlier this month.
Moses most recently served as Appellate Division Director for the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office, where she oversaw daily operations of the division, including policy development, resource allocation, and coordination of training and support for staff and private counsel. In that role, she also represented the agency in collaboration with the Legislature, the judicial branch, and other state partners, and served on the Wisconsin Judicial Council’s Appellate Procedure Committee.
District 5 includes Columbia, Dane, Green, Lafayette, Rock, and Sauk counties. As District Court Administrator, Moses oversees administrative operations across the district, including caseload coordination, implementation of policies and statewide initiatives, and serving as a liaison among the courts, the Director of State Courts Office, and local partners.
“I’m honored to join the court system as the District Court Administrator in District 5. I look forward to continuing to serve and further justice in this new role,” Moses said.
Her experience includes prior service as a Regional Attorney Manager in the State Public Defender’s Trial Division, where she supervised more than 30 staff across multiple counties and led hiring, training, and performance management efforts. Her work also involved policy implementation, program development, and coordination with courts, law enforcement, and community partners.
Her background also includes involvement in evidence-based decision-making initiatives, treatment court programs, and juvenile justice training and policy development.
Moses holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, with a certificate in Criminal Justice, from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
