The Clerk of Court Conference was held February 11-13

Clerks of circuit court from across Wisconsin gathered in the Wisconsin Dells for the three-day Clerks of Circuit Court Institute, an annual training program organized by the Office of Judicial Education.

The conference provided practical instruction and updates on topics central to daily court operations. Sessions included refresher training on jury procedures, an overview of the CCAP service model and court system financial processes, and updates from the Director of State Courts Office.

Clerks also received presentations on the Court Interpreter Program, judicial security, vital records procedures, and legal requirements for handling accommodation requests under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Additional sessions focused on emerging issues, including working with sovereign citizen filings, de-escalation strategies for challenging interactions, and the growing role of artificial intelligence in the courts. The program concluded with a refresher on restraining order procedures and an interactive look at a CCAP portal prototype.

The institute brought clerks together to strengthen skills, share information, and support consistent, effective service to the public. The agenda was developed by the Office of Judicial Education in cooperation with program faculty.
