Justice Rebecca Bradley received a lifetime achievement award on January 15 from the Robert J. Parins Legal Society of Northeast Wisconsin. The award was presented by Brown County Circuit Court Judge Donald R. Zuidmulder during a ceremony at the Meyer Theatre in Green Bay.
Bradley was appointed to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals in 2015 by then-Gov. Scott Walker. Later that year, she was appointed to the Wisconsin Supreme Court following the death of Justice Neil Patrick Crooks. She was elected to a full 10-year term in 2016. Before joining the appellate courts, Bradley served as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court judge for three years and practiced law in Milwaukee with a focus on commercial litigation and intellectual property.
Bradley earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration and business economics from Marquette University in 1993 and her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1996.
In remarks during the event, Bradley said the recognition prompted her to reflect on her legal career, which includes 16 years as a lawyer and nearly 14 years on the bench. She said she is most proud of the opinions she authored in which she defended constitutional rights.
Bradley announced she will not seek another term when her current term ends in July.
