Municipal judges from across Wisconsin convened in La Crosse on July 10 and 11 for a two-day judicial education seminar organized by the Office of Judicial Education. The event featured a range of topics relevant to municipal court proceedings, including zoning codes, judicial ethics, interpreter use, and updates on new laws.
Chief Justice Jill J. Karofsky addressed attendees during the seminar and took time to recognize longtime Judicial Education staff member Carol Koschel, who is preparing to retire. Koschel has played a key role in coordinating education programs for 26 years.
In addition to sessions on legal developments and courtroom practices, the agenda included presentations from judges, attorneys, and subject-matter experts. Topics ranged from underage drinking and aging drivers to judicial security and emotional support resources in law enforcement.
The seminar was developed in cooperation with faculty from across the state and offered continuing legal education and judicial education credits.
