Marquette Law graduates take attorney oath at State Capitol

170 Marquette University Law School graduates were sworn in as Wisconsin attorneys during ceremonies held in the Assembly Chambers at the Wisconsin State Capitol. Chief Justice Jill J. Karofsky presided over the ceremonies, welcoming graduates and their guests to the profession.

The Marquette graduates were joined by seven additional applicants, bringing the total number of new Wisconsin attorneys admitted during the ceremonies to 177.

Director of the Board of Bar Examiners Jacquelynn Rothstein certified the applicants’ character and fitness before Dean Joseph Kearney and other movants formally requested their admission to the bar.

Justice Annette Kingsland Ziegler administered the oath, and Justice Rebecca Frank Dallet shared remarks with the new attorneys and their guests.

Chief Justice Karofsky closed the ceremonies by congratulating the new attorneys and emphasizing the importance of their role at this moment in history. She encouraged them to embrace the responsibilities of the profession with integrity, service, and purpose.
