Judges from Wisconsin's Tenth Judicial Administrative District met in Bayfield County on October 16 and 17 for their fall training and business sessions. The two-day program included education on forensic issues in domestic and child abuse cases, district updates, and opportunities to learn about local court and public safety operations.
The training on October 16 was originally planned for the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center. Following the federal government shutdown, the group shifted to the Bayfield County Board Supervisors' room, located in the county's historic former courtroom. Judges received instruction on evaluating forensic evidence in cases involving family violence and child abuse, with discussion on expert testimony, analysis, and emerging issues.
On October 17, judges met at the Bayfield County Annex for district business and administrative updates. Over the lunch period, attendees toured the Joint Dispatch Center serving Bayfield and Ashland counties, which is the only shared county dispatch facility of its kind in Wisconsin.
The program also included optional outdoor activities, offering time for informal conversation and connection. Participants joined a group trail walk near Houghton Falls State Natural Area and golfed at Apostle Highlands. Judges reported productive discussions and training, along with valuable opportunities to learn more about court and public safety partnerships in northern Wisconsin.
