Wisconsin court system responds to COVID-19 concerns

Madison, Wisconsin - March 11, 2020

The Director of State Courts and court administrators, judicial administrative district chief judges, presiding judges and circuit court judges continue to monitor state and local health guidance and information as COVID-19 coronavirus proliferates and concerns grow across Wisconsin.

The court system will continue to communicate with, and rely on, these health officials for guidance and information so as to best protect employees and the public, said Director of State Courts Randy R. Koschnick.

As this situation evolves, some counties or circuit courts may decide whether it is necessary to limit or monitor access to public buildings, order quarantines or modify court calendars or procedures to help reduce the potential spread of the virus.

At this time, any decision to adjust circuit court calendars or operating procedures would be determined locally. Attorneys or litigants with questions about a particular upcoming court activity or appearance should contact the clerk of circuit court in that county.

Court calendar information about any particular case may be found on the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access website.

The Director of State Courts Office and court administrators will continue to monitor the situation to determine if additional steps are necessary, Koschnick said.
