| 11/25/25 | Panels appointed in Bothfeld v. WEC (No. 2025XX1438) and WBLD v. WEC (No. 2025XX1330) The Wisconsin Supreme Court has issued orders appointing three-judge panels and assigning venue in Bothfeld v. WEC (No. 2025XX1438) and WBLD v. WEC (No. 2025XX1330). In each matter, the court designated Dane County as the venue for all hearings and filings. In Bothfeld v. WEC, the court appointed Judge Julie Genovese of Dane County, Judge Emily Lonergan of Outagamie County, and Judge Mark Sanders of Milwaukee County to serve on the three-judge panel. In WBLD v. WEC, the court appointed Judge David Conway of Dane County, Judge Patricia Baker of Portage County, and Judge Michael Moran of Marathon County to serve on the three-judge panel. The event drew a capacity crowd to the historic Richland County Courthouse, where students, teachers, and community members gathered to observe oral arguments in two cases of statewide significance. Karofsky today officially began her term as Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, following her election by colleagues to lead the Court for the remainder of the current two-year term, which runs through April 30, 2027. | 05/01/25 | Ann Walsh Bradley begins term as Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley officially began her term as chief justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court today, following her election to the position by fellow members of the Court. She succeeds Justice Annette Kingsland Ziegler, who served in the role since 2021 and will continue to serve as a justice on the Court. Read more. |
| 04/30/25 | Director of State Courts issues statement on internal investigation report The Director of State Courts Office welcomes the completion of the investigation into the unauthorized disclosure of internal court communications during the summer of 2024. While the investigators did not reach a conclusive determination regarding the source of the leak, their report offers a number of practical recommendations for improving internal processes and communication protocols. | 04/30/25 | Chief Justice Ziegler Statement - Investigation Report In late June of 2024, the Wisconsin Supreme Court suffered a breach of trust the court had not experienced in its history. The court was shocked to learn on June 26, 2024, that a confidential draft document had been leaked to the press. All seven members of the court condemned the breach. Read more. |
