07/14/20 - (15AP2442-D) (2020 WI 70)
Office of Lawyer Regulation v. Wendy Alison Nora - Per curiam.
IT IS ORDERED that the license of Wendy Alison Nora to practice law in Wisconsin is suspended for a period of two years, effective April 1, 2020. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that as a condition of reinstatement, any petition seeking reinstatement from the license suspension imposed in this proceeding must (1) identify each monetary sanction amount that has been imposed on her individually by any court and that is outstanding as of the date of this decision and (2) allege that she has made a good faith effort to pay all such sanction amounts. In addition, Attorney Nora must prove during the reinstatement proceedings before the referee that she has made a good faith effort to pay all of the sanction amounts identified in her petition. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that no costs shall be imposed upon Wendy Alison Nora in this proceeding. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the administrative suspension of Wendy Alison Nora's license to practice law in Wisconsin, due to her failure to pay mandatory bar dues and her failure to file a trust account certification, will remain in effect until each reason for the administrative suspension has been rectified pursuant to SCR 22.28(1). IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that Wendy Alison Nora shall comply with the provisions of SCR 22.26 concerning the duties of a person whose license to practice law in Wisconsin has been suspended. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that compliance with all conditions of this order is required for reinstatement from the suspension imposed herein. See SCR 22.28(3).

New Wisconsin judges bring varied backgrounds, experience to the bench

August 4, 2020 - Wisconsin’s newest circuit court judges bring varied backgrounds and experience to the bench, in addition to being accomplished lawyers in a number of areas of the law. On Aug. 1, six newly elected circuit court judges took office in Chippewa, Dodge, Marinette, Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. They join a number of judges appointed by Gov. Tony Evers since the beginning of the year in Dane, Kenosha, Marathon, Milwaukee, Shawano-Menominee and Washington counties. see full article see full article

July 30, 2020 - The Wisconsin Supreme Court has voted to accept three new cases, and the Court acted to deny review in a number of other cases. Expanded Court of Appeals' eFiling pilot project begins Aug. 3

July 27, 2020 - On Monday, Aug. 3, a voluntary eFiling pilot program will begin in Wisconsin Court of Appeals, District III, which serves the northern half of Wisconsin. Attorneys who want to try out appellate eFiling can use their existing eCourts accounts to file new cases or opt in to pending cases to file new documents. see full article see full article

Wisconsin Supreme Court re-appoints four administrative chief judges

July 16, 2020 - The Wisconsin Supreme Court has re-appointed circuit court judges from Barron, Kenosha, Marathon, and Marinette counties to serve new two-year terms as chief judge of their respective judicial administrative district. see full article see full article

Commercial Docket Pilot Project expands to additional jurisdictions

July 1, 2020 - On February 12, 2020, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ordered the extension of the Commercial Docket Pilot Project for an additional two years and expanded to additional regions in the state. Commencing July 1, 2020, District 10, District 2, and Dane County will be jurisdictions included and commercial docket judges will be assigned to commercial docket cases. These regions are in addition to District 8 and Waukesha County, where commercial docket judges have been hearing cases since July 2017.

June 26, 2020 - The online videoconferencing service Zoom has served the Wisconsin court system like a Swiss Army knife since the beginning of the pandemic. It hasn't been the perfect tool for every job, but it's gotten a lot of work done in difficult times. see full article see full article

Wisconsin court system delivering 600,000 face masks to circuit courts statewide

June 12, 2020 - Wisconsin state court system staff are distributing 600,000 face masks purchased through the Director of State Courts office to assist circuit courts statewide in advancing local plans to resume in-person proceedings and jury trials. see full article see full article
